Flick's been an inn keeper for 7 months and during that time we've enjoyed fairly consistent occupancy. Our objective has been to provide a high quality guest experience and Flick's previous hospitality experience and naturally friendly and service-oriented demeanour are proving to be very useful. She's relishing the interaction, which makes a change from small children, and has been enjoying the diversity of guests. So far we've had parties from various parts of Australia, NZ, the US, UK, Switzerland, Germany and Hong Kong. Here's what some of them have had to say:
"We stayed in the cottage for four nights with our two kids, aged 3 and 5. It was perfect for us in every way! We fell in love with the cottage instantly. Everything is brandnew and Felicity has done a great job creating a space that feels cozy, modern and like a real home. The location was the best surprise: on a map you might get the impression that it is far out. However, the cottage is right on the Manly to Spit Walkway and the walk to Manly Wharf could not be nicer. Our kids never wanted to take the bus! We wanted to explore Sydney and found the cottage to be the perfect hub. You either take the ferry or a direct bus to the city. Back 'home' you enjoy the numerous beaches, the quiet, the peace. Last but not least Felicity, David and their two boys were great - one could not wish for better hosts. Our girls would suddenly vanish and we would find them somewhere in their spacious garden. If our daughters could write they would probably also mention the toys, the storybooks and their comfy beds. My husband was very happy with the walk-in shower. I couldn't help but be grateful for the washing machine. I would have loved to read some of the interesting books on the bookshelf but there was just not enough time. We highly recommend the Ranger's Cottage and if we ever make it back to Manly will return for sure!"
"This place is a little paradise built recently just next door to where Felicity and her family live. The Cottage is beautifully sunlit, modern and has all the trappings of a warm Home (lots of books, information about Sydney and Manly Beach, even fresh baked brownies in the refrigerator!) The location is incredible; the beach is a three minute walk away, and you will encounter some cool parrots other birds and Some neighborhood dogs on the way. I could not recommend this more highly. Just don't reserve the place when I want it next time!"
"My mother in law and her friend stayed here over our wedding weekend and said they were blown away with the lovely welcome. They also said It was certainly 5 star and there was everything you could possibly need - certainly personal service - they asked for an iron and her husband came galloping down with one. I would certainly recommend that place to friends - much nicer than staying in a hotel!"
"We had a wonderful 6 days here - near enough to all of Sydney's high lights. Just 2 mins from Manly Scenic Walkway, taking 15 minutes to walk to famous Manly ferry. Quiet & peaceful, near some natural 'bush' after hard days sight seeing ;) The cottage was really comfy, spotless, with everything you need, including little extras left by host :) Felicity was very attentive , helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended. Thanks."
"What a wonderful place to stay! Modern, clean and very quiet. We loved the fantastic breakfast in the courtyard, so quiet and beautiful. An amazing walk takes you past a yummy cafe straight to the heart of Manly and to the ferries. Felicity goes out of her way to take care of you, everything is provided with love: the space, furniture, food and local information. Felicity is helpful and warm without being intrusive. Just a great stay, highly recommended and we will certainly be back!"
"We spent 10 nights with our daughter and loved it, it had all the comforts of home. Our host Felicity was fantastic! She was helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Good old kiwi hospitality! The cottage was comfortable and cosy, with everything we needed. We were delighted to find how clean and well furnished it was. "We have stayed at Manly many times at various locations but found The Rangers Cottage so quiet and peaceful away from the street noise etc down in Manly itself. The location is convenient to everything; restaurants, walks, Manly Ferry as well as swimming and kayaking spots. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive and the cottage itself is charming. It has all of the amenities that we required and we will certainly go back for another stay"
"We loved our stay at Rangers Cottage - a charming cottage on the edge of a beautiful national park. A pleasant half an hour walk to Manly...or swim in one of the more local beaches. A great cafe nearby and welcoming, a friendly hostess who provided great information on the local amenites and public transport."
"What a wonderful place to stay - Felicity and Dave's Rangers Cottage. I loved being across the road from proper australian bush and wandering down the hill to one of my favourite Northern Beaches. We stayed here during a heat wave and I was amazed and deeply grateful that the cottage was cool and a retreat from the adventure of a 40 degree day. Felicity is a charming and gracious host and there are so many touches she gives the place that make it feel like home, but even better than that, a glamorous home. Highly recommended!"
"This being our first visit to Australia - What more could you ask for? Rangers Cottage is like a home away from home being well appointed with all mod cons. Lovely location with a gorgeous walk from your door step into Manly. The hosts Felicity and David are great people who are more than willing to help make your stay even better. We would certainly recommend this Cottage and would definitely stay here again. As far as we are concerned Rangers Cottage is quality and value for money. The weather was also very good.

"My parents booked this little cottage to stay in when they visited us here in Sydney. And we were blown away by how comfy, clean and well equipped this place is. Felicity is a wonderful host: friendly, helpful and her brownies.... !The one bedroom is large, the bathroom was so clean that my Mum had nothing to complain about (my family are a bit fussy about cleanliness and the whole cottage passed with flying colours) and the couch in the lounge is the best couch we have ever slept on. Pretty little bays are in walking distance and the walk to Manly is really lovely. Theres also a cafe nearby too with great coffee. Its a nice location to be accessible but hidden away at the same time. We have already recommended this cottage to all of our friends. No matter if you're visiting Sydney for business or pleasure, Felicity's cottage is the perfect place to settle in, get comfy and really enjoy yourself."
