Bidey & Pamps gave us a family tent for Christmas and we finally had a chance to use it in mid March with a weekend camping at Shoal Bay on the shore of Port Stephens (just north of Newcastle). We stayed at the local caravan park (along with a Christian youth group, which gave us memories of our meeting at St Mary's. The boys seemed to enjoy themselves and went to sleep in the tent pretty well.
By day we enjoyed the sheltered beach and went on a dolphin spotting cruise (there is a substantial resident population in the harbour). On the way home on Sunday we stopped at Fighter World Museum, which is attached to the Williamtown Airforce Base and includes the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of real fighter jets. I think that was actually the highlight of the boys' weekend...
