Tree Day

Chalk up another run in our epic match of Flick & Dave vs the garden.  Today we had the arborists in, removing two large but ugly conifers (one of which was home to a possum, who shot across the garden and into our roof when disturbed); cutting back a bunch of other stuff and grinding about a dozen stumps and most of the remains of the bamboo patch (it'll probably still be popping up for years to come, though!).  Unfortunately it now exposes how much work we need to do on the house, not to mention the front fence.  La la...

Not much remains of the bamboo patch.

The green trailer was completely filled with mulch by the end of the day.

One down and the amount of extra morning light on the house is significant.

Number two (on the boundary with Ivana) on the way down.
Remaining Oleanders gone, revealing the parlous state of the front fence.

Now that we've (finally) had a few days of warm weather along with plenty of rain, the speed with which the garden can get away on us is becoming apparent.  Foot high weeds (including some wild tomato plants) have appeared in the last week while we were on holiday and the grass is overdue for mowing.
