Charlie had been quite keen on Buzz Lightyear and Toys for a party theme, but then the new Pixar Cars movie came out and it was all about "Finn McMissile", a James Bond-esque Aston Martin car complete with missile launchers. Luckily we hadn't done the invitations when he had his change of heart.
This is the first year that he's been aware of who he was inviting, and his list became quite long and varied, including not just his preschool buddies but also specific requests for a couple of our new neighbours. We wound up with over twenty children and an equivalent number of adults, so the morning became a good dress rehearsal for our upcoming housewarming & Dave's birthday party.
As usual Flick's cake decoration stole the show and "donut bobbing" was also a hit. We were pleased with how the house absorbed the crowd, with every room in use and the verandah providing a focal point.

Meanwhile, following Mary's departure we've had Flick's cousin Kate (below with James) stay for a week (on a research trip ex Cambridge for her PhD in Pacific Colonial History) and Ken for a couple of days (en route back to NZ from Canada via a conference in Tanznia).
